European Consumer Center (ECC)
European Consumer Center (ECC)
At the European Consumer Center (ECC) Germany you will find support and advice on all topics relating to consumer protection in the EU. Whether you are buying goods or using services in another European country, the ECC is there to help and advise you. At the ECC, you will find extensive information on cross-border consumer issues, sample letters for your concerns and a self-help tool that makes it easier for you to assert your rights.
If you get into a conflict with a company from another EU country, Iceland or Norway, the ECC offers you free help. After you have submitted your case on the ECC website, the team will check the legal situation and work with the ECC in the company's country to find an out-of-court solution. You will be informed about every step of the process and can be sure that the ECC will stand up for your rights.
The ECC's services are free of charge for you. In addition to out-of-court dispute resolution, the ECC also provides information about legal protection options in the EU and supports consumers from other EU countries in disputes with German companies. Furthermore, the ECC is responsible for the consumer pages of "Portal 21", an information and service portal that facilitates the use of services in other European countries.
Funded by the EU Commission and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, the ECC is part of a Europe-wide network of 29 information offices. These facilities offer you support with the cross-border purchase of goods and services and help you with problems with traders from another EU member state.
The network of European Consumer Centers (ECC-Net) promotes out-of-court dispute resolution and works closely with national dispute resolution bodies. If you have difficulties with a foreign retailer, the ECC in your home country will take the necessary steps to find a solution.
The European Consumer Centers are an important point of contact for anyone who wants to take advantage of the European Single Market while protecting their consumer rights.
