Semrush is an online visibility platform founded in 2008 by Oleg Shchegolev and Dmitri Melnikov, headquartered in Boston. It bundles tools for SEO, content marketing, competitive research, and paid search.
IPO and acquisition
Semrush went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021 (ticker SEMR). In 2024 it reported revenue of around 377 million US dollars with roughly 1,600 employees. In late 2025 Adobe announced its acquisition of Semrush for about 1.9 billion US dollars, approved by shareholders in early 2026.
Since 2022, Marcus Tober has been with the company as SVP of Enterprise Solutions; he previously founded Searchmetrics.
